Historic Kilmun and Walled Garden collaborate

Historic Kilmun and Glenfinart Walled Garden collaborated recently by sharing Dunoon premises over a two-day period.  The Argyll Street shop, which was kindly offered by Tony Stonehouse, provided a venue to promote both projects and attract volunteers. Members of the public enjoyed teas and coffees and many expressed an interest in visiting both attractions.

Glenfinart Garden orchard – Two years on

IMG_1177-2-1 On January 31st, two years to the day the new orchard was planted in Glenfinart Walled Garden, a group of volunteers gathered to learn some pruning skills and do a fruit tree health check.  The workshop was led by popular permaculturist, Ceci Alderton, from Strachur  who reassured us that all the young trees were doing well.   What could be a better way of spending a frosty, sunny day, with a birthday celebration for the treasurer of A.C.T. , and superb vegetable soup and sandwiches?

Most of the trees are adopted by local residents, including our enthusiastic and renowned patron, Sophie Thomson. However there are a few still to be claimed and anyone who would like to adopt a Red Devil,  an egremount russet, a Katy eating apple, an Invincible pear, an Arthur Turner cooking Apple or a Czar or Victoria Plum… please get in touch.  No work involved.. just a blessing.

Merle Ferguson.

Glenfinart Walled Garden: Presentation of proposals to further develop garden

GOPR1010-5-1Over the past few months Ardentinny Community Trust has been working on plans to transform Glenfinart Walled Garden into a venue that can be used by all members of the community as well as attracting tourists to the area thereby enhancing the tourism offer on the Cowal Peninsula.

The appointed independent consultants (the Venturei Network) assigned to assist the Trust in this process have produced a report setting out how the Walled Garden will be developed over the medium to long term.

The Ardentinny Community Trust believes community groups and organisations, in addition to tourist, recreational, hospitality, and educational providers across the Cowal Peninsula, should be involved in the project to ensure the long-term sustainability of both the Garden and the Region. Therefore, the Venturei Network is holding an event which will present the outputs of the report and provide an opportunity for connections to be made between the Trust and these organisations to move the project forward. For a comprehensive review of Marvelcasino, you can visit marvelcasino огляд.

This event will take place in:

The Younger Hall, Kilmun on Wednesday 4th February 2015  between 7pm – 9pm.

All community groups and organisations as well as tourist, recreational, hospitality and educational providers on the Cowal Peninsula are encouraged to attend this event
