Waverley keeping things current

On paddle steamer Waverley’s penultimate cruise of the season up Loch Long today, it was good to hear, as part of the excellent on-board commentary, a mention of Glenfinart Walled Garden and its inclusion in the latest episode of the BBC’s Beechgrove Garden. This was in addition to the usual references to Harry Lauder’s song “O’er the Hill to Ardentinny” and Coulport. Excellent that Waverley is keeping its visitor information up-to-date.
The last weekly cruise of the season by Waverley up Loch Long from Blairmore is next Tuesday at 14:05 with a final cruise leaving Blairmore Pier on Saturday October 19 at 13:00. For more information visit waverleyexcursions.co.uk.

Ardentinny Community Trust at Small Acorns event
Volunteers from Ardentinny Community Trust last weekend manned a display at the Small Acorns event at Hunters Quay Holiday Village, Dunoon. The stall, which included the sale of garden and local produce, also featured information on Glenfinart Walled Garden and photographs of the new Beechgrove Sensory Garden.
Powerpoint presentations, created by Lynn Kerr, provided visitors with a historical background to the garden and a second presentation aimed at the younger visitor, offered children an insight into the exciting Kids’ area within the Walled Garden.
Glenfinart Walled Garden is open to the public every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday 10.00 until 15.00. Entrance is free and everyone is welcome.
