Ardentinny Bowling Club
2008 Highlights
The following is a short resume of the highlights of season 2008.Gents Day & Ladies Day.
A big thank you to all members who worked so hard and donated buffet and raffle prizes thereby helping to make both days such a success, and a special thank you to Michelle for giving up her Sunday to assist us at the Gents day it was really appreciated. Once again the Ladies had the best of the weather.
Argyll & Bute ties.
Thank you to the ladies who represented the club in the Argyll & Bute ties with a special mention to Ina Hamilton, Margaret Robinson, Shirley Marshall and Janette Reilly. For reaching the final at Campbelltown.
Argyll & Bute Finals
Gordon and Dougie also did themselves and the club proud by reaching the finals of the Gents Argyll & Bute Finals at Rothesay, where they were narrowly beaten in the Semis.
Kirn and Hunters Quay
Jim & Margaret Robinson also made their mark and brought the club to the fore by winning the open mixed pairs at Kirn and Hunters Quay and lifting the LAMONT TROPHY
S.W.B.A. Finals
But it was Our Ladies senior four of Ina Hamilton, Margaret Robinson, Shirley Marshall and Jean Grimes that really excelled by winning the district final of the Scottish, thereby reaching the S.W.B.A. Finals at Ayr Northfield where, unfortunately, they went down narrowly to the eventual winners.
Congratulations to all concerned.
Scottish ties
In JUNE Ardentinny B.C. hosted their first Scottish ties thanks to Lettie Dempster for acting as umpire and Dorothy McWattie for helping out with the catering on the day.
Taking all these things into consideration it was a really successful season and it has been a tremendous achievement for such a small club.
